Dermaroller and the induction therapy of collagen
Collagen induction therapy concept is simple: stimulate the production of dermal collagen, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and improving skin texture. After applying local anesthesia through a lidocaine cream, is using a sterile medical reel (known as Dermaroller) containing some 200 fine needles, and that produce large amount of microscopic channels at the level of the deep dermis. This “controlled wound” encourages the body to synthesize collagen to repair the skin. Channels also allow better penetration of topical treatment products. The results can last 5 to 10 years, or more.
The use of the dermaroller is ideal for nonsurgical treatment and non-ablative of various skin conditions, such as aging (wrinkles, stretch marks), scarring (acne, surgery, old wounds) and pigmentation problems.
A large number of clinical studies have shown that the use of the dermaroller collagen induction therapy are as effective as other more aggressive treatments, such as fractional lasers, dermabrasio, or chemical peels. It has also been shown that stimulation of collagen and elastin is comparable to LPI (intense pulsed light) treatments, Fraxel, which helps increase dermal thickness and therefore reduce wrinkles, stretch marks and scars.
This can be applied by medical treatments that last several sessions (2 or 5 treatments every 2 months), but also are suitable and convenient to use for personal use at home.
What is and how the Dermaroller works? How is it used? Which are their benefits and advantages? Discover it!
What is and how it works?
The Derma-roller is a hand-held device that consists of a handle with a wheel in which van inserted several mircro – needles. Slipping through the skin, it causes dermo-abrasion and at the same time, creates channels in the corneal layer that facilitate the entry of active principles, in addition to considerably favour the production of collagen and elastin.
How is possible that a simple and within reach of all device, favors the production of collagen and elastin?
The reason is the following… The skin when it is attacked is to produce new skin, and this produces large amounts of collagen and elastin. The interpretation that the skin makes when passing the Dermaroller is that it is being attacked and defended making new skin, and to make new skin, must produce lot of collagen and elastin, so turned the encouragement of production to deal with the aggression.
How to use; How is it used?
Roll has to spend by pressing slightly so that needles not only do its job dermo-abrasive, but that also open those channels that Miss the active principles. 10 passes will be made for each zone by rolling roll left to right (10 times), from top to bottom (10 times) and diagonal (10 times).
Once passed the dermaroller through all areas of the skin, it is recommended that without sliding the roller but keeping it in specific areas, is pressed with it on the skin to make those “micro-holes”.
Very sensitive skin must pass roll more smoothly and gradually increase the pressure as it can be in following sessions. This technique can be aggressive in those very sensitive skin so it will adjust the pressure and number of passes depending on each skin. Sometimes is necessary the use of an anesthetic cream, sold in pharmacies.
Depending on the length of the needles will be destined to a function or another. For example, the dermaroller whose needles have a length of 0.25 mm to 1 mm are used for the face; If the needles have one greater length, its use is at the body to treat stretch marks, spots, sagging located…
Many more needles have, fewer passes must be made on the skin and is less aggressive technique in addition to more quickly and more conveniently.
Through your skin too frequently, the derma-roller will not give you best results. Why not? Think of it, in a way similar to when cutting a finger, you need time to heal it. Small wounds created by the dermaroller roller during puncture of the skin also need time to heal and build collagen. Even when they are much smaller than a cut of a knife, you should have enough time so that your body passes through the natural healing process of the skin.
The renewal of the skin and the new reconstruction of collagen continues for about 40 days after puncture, this mainly should taken into account when deciding how often should use a dermaroller.
Frequency of use depending on the length of the needle:
0, 2-0, 25 mm dermaroller can be used daily or every other day. This size improves the absorption of the applied skin care products.
0.5 mm dermaroller can be used once every 3 weeks.
0.75 mm dermaroller can be used once every 4 weeks.
1.0 mm dermaroller can be used once a month (every 5-6 weeks).
1.5 mm dermaroller can be used once every 6 weeks.
2, 0-2, 5 mm dermaroller can be used once every 8 weeks.
